Bentley Unveils Three New High-Performance Hybrids

Bentley Continental GT, Continental GTC, Flying Spur Azure Range

The new performance hybrid models slot under the current generation Speed models, but all outperform the previous generation Speed GT.

Bentley’s Continental GT, Continental GT Convertible, and Flying Spur ranges have all added a second V-8 plug-in hybrid option dubbed the High-Performance Hybrid. The new engines have a combined output of 680 PS and 930 Nm of torque. In the Continental GT, they feature a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds (0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds). This is second only to the top-of-the-line 782PS Ultra Performance Hybrid models available in either Speed or Mulliner. This also means that Bentley’s two- and four-door offerings are now exclusively powered by electrified V8 engines.

While the Ultra Performance Hybrid Speed remains at the top of the range, the new High-Performance Hybrid options outperform the previous generation W12 regarding power, torque, and performance parameters. Remarkably, this is all achieved while traveling up to 50 miles in pure electric mode.

The fourth-generation Continental GT and Continental GT Convertible are known as the “core models” and continue to showcase the classic Continental GT Design cues that were first introduced in 2003, including Bentley’s signature matrix grilles (finished in gloss black with a chrome surround and center bar). The lower bumper grilles are finished in matte black, and the splitter is gloss black. The fourth generation GT models also feature Bentley’s radical new ‘Harmony’ headlamps. Known for their departure of the 4 headlamp clusters. These new ‘Harmoney’ headlamps are different from the Speed models and are inspired by cut crystals with new welcoming animations. The exterior also features brightware in chrome which is particularly striking on the tailpipes against the gloss black defuser.

The seats for the new Continental GT and Continental GT Convertible are hand-crafted in Crewe to a straight-fluted design with customer options including bright chrome or optional dark chrome specifications that include the switchgear, air vents, organ stops and door handles.

Both models feature the new V8 High-Performance Hybrid powertrain that develops a combined power output of 680 PS and combined torque output of 930 Nm. The 0-60 times are a mere 3.5 seconds for the New Continental GT (0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds) and 3.8 seconds (0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds) for the New Continental GT Convertible. The electric-only range is 53 miles / 85km for the New Continental GT and 51 miles / 82 km for the GTC. Bringing C02 figures in hybrid mode to as low as 29 g/km and 31 g/km, respectively. Bentley Active Chassis technology includes Dynamic Ride, Rear Wheel Steering, and eLSD with choices of Comfort, Bentley, and Sport Modes for the driver.

The new models also come in the Azure specific trim. A trim that is focused on both elegant design as well as mindfulness and well-being. Perhaps the most obvious tell of this new trim is the dramatic and bold new glass black matrix grille with bright chrome surround and vertical vanes. Behind this is a gloss black front splitter to provide a contrast to the bright grilles on the front. This trim also features a new silver and bright machined 22” Azure Wheel Design and Azure badging on the front fender. Inside, the seats and door inners feature new 3D Harmony Diamond quilting with the Azure branding embroidered on the headrests.
