Bentley Bentayga Speed sets a Goodwood Hillclimb Record

Bentley continues to prove that the Bentayga Speed is a performance monster by setting a new record at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
On Sunday, July 6th, Bentley brought the recently unveiled Bentayga Speed to the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Despite wet conditions, the Bentayga Speed was able to record a hill climb time of just 55.8 seconds.
This represents a new record for an ICE SUV and beats the previous record holder, which happens to be a W12 Bentayga Speed, which achieved its record in dry conditions. Even more impressive is that the Bentayga maintains the record for the fastest ICE SUV not only for production SUVs but also non-production, as the only faster gasoline-powered SUV to make the run is the Pikes Peak Bentayga, which was a one-off special model for that hillclimb.

The new Bentayga Speed is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine that produces 641hp and 627lb-ft of torque, which allows the Bentayga Speed to accelerate from 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 193mph. But Bentley pushed performance further by enhancing the SPORT chassis mode and a new ESC Dynamic setting to deliver maximum driver involvement and the ability to choose beteen enhanced road-holding or the ability to slide (drift) the motorcar.
Despite the wet conditions, the driver, Andy Marson, achieved a peak speed of 130mph before needing a break. This is an incredible achievement, and Bentley continues to prove that the Bantayga is not only one of the most luxurious SUVs, but also one of the most performance-oriented.
