Porsche Wins Major Races Using ICE, Hybrid & EV All On The Same Day

Porsche 99X Electric, Porsche Penske 963 Hybrid, 911 GT3 R “Rexy”

Proving, that to Porsche, it doesn't matter what the propulsion is, they will always remain at the top of the podium.

Porsche is no stranger to winning. In fact, they constantly dominate the world of racing and, more often than not, find themselves atop the podium. This lore runs deep in the Porsche story and captivates people around the world. Porsche people feel a sense of pride, and that pride extends to their road cars.

But something incredible happened last Saturday: Porsche found itself at the top of all three major international racing classes, which were all powered by different drivetrain types.

  1. The Porsche Penske 963 (V8 hybrid turbocharged engine) won the GTP class and took the overall victory at the Long Beach Grand Prix IMSA race.

  2. Also at Long Beach but in the GTD Category, AO Racing’s 911 GT3 R “Rexy” won with the gasoline ICE flat six.

  3. At the Formula E Miami E-Prix, the Tag Heuer Porsche 99X Electric took home first.

This is the first time since Formula E began 11 seasons ago that a manufacturer has won three different categories using three different drivetrains. Further proof that Porsche is THE sportscar manufacturer and that racing is in the DNA of every Porsche. No matter what powers the cars, Porsche will always remain on top.
