Bentley Batur Convertible Makes Its Public Debut
Bentley Batur Convertible
The Bentley Batur Convertible, handcrafted by Mulliner and the 3rd coachbuilt Bentley of the modern era, makes its in-person debut at a launch event in Dubai.
Coachbuilding was a lost art in the automotive industry for decades, and only recently have brands, such as Bentley, started to embrace this storied pastime. Only 16 individually numbered cars will be produced, making this coachbuild a truly historic collector’s piece. Each unit will feature the most powerful version of Bentley’s iconic W12 engine, which is hand-assembled with 750 PS and is powered by a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged unit. All of the units will be completed this summer, meaning that this is one of the very last Bentleys to use this masterpiece. What makes the Batur Convertible even more special, is that nearly every detail is personalized to the customers passions, making each unit truly unique.

Design Details
The car pictured is Bentley’s Batur Convertible Engineering Car and is meant to serve as a demonstration of the possibilities customers have with the Mulliner Bespoke Studio. It is a showcase of dynamic color transitions and unique high-performance materials, highlighted through the Midnight Emerald exterior paint and High Gloss Carbon Fibre finishes. The front features a unique and stunning bold Satin Dark Titanium finish and a Gloss Mandarin matrix grille that fades to Gloss Beluga—creating a striking and daring visual transition.

The front and center of the bold exterior is the distinctive Batur Racing Stripe, finished in gloss porpoise and outlined with gloss Mandarin outer stripes that hide-match the interior leather. Creating a unique and harmonious look between the interior and the exterior.
This sense of harmony is further seen in the interior, which features Cumbrian Green and Porpoises leather that is accented with Mandarin stitching and piping. Machined titanium Organ Stops and Bullseye vents complement the interior and add traditional charm. The veneer features Mulliner’s “guitar fade”, where the theme of transitions continues with color and textures spanning the cabin's width, featuring gloss Beluga to high gloss carbon fibre and back to gloss Beluga. To highlight the historical importance of the vehicle, there is a unique laser-etched audio signature of the W12 engine.

Open top motoring has been central to the Bentley brand since the very first Bentley in 1919 and through the company’s foundation years of the 1920’s. That tradition continues 100+ years later with the Batur. The unique architecture of the Batur Convertible was designed so that the Mulliner team could create a theme that not only blends the design of the Bacalar and the Batur but also create a unique convertible. Inspired by the Bacalar, the designers chose to highlight the two-seater characteristic with a special “wraparound” cockpit.

Personal & Uniquely Commissioned
The Mulliner Bespoke Studio Team will co-create every Batur Convertible with each client to ensure that their unique passions and desires are reflected in the cars. This is done through Bentley’s exclusive in-house commissioning software, which uses a unique “off-menu” approach that allows any part of the car to be customized in color and surface finish.
The paint choices are unlimited, starting with the Mulliner color palette and extending into fully bespoke paint options, including hand-painted elements. One of the coolest options is the graduated contrast colour to the front grille, which gives the vibrant ombre effect seen in the Engineering Car photographed.
In the interior, Bentley continues to flex its use of 3D printed parts, including the rose gold key driver touch points such, as the Bentley Drive Mode Selector that encircles the start/stop button used to change chassis modes. Rose gold can also be applied to the iconic Bentley Organ Stop vent controls and the steering wheel.
This is in collaboration with expert goldsmiths based in the historic Jewelry Quarter of Birmingham, England.

Exclusive & Powerful
Each Batur is handcrafted over several months at Mulliner’s workshop within Bentley’s carbon-neutral factory in Crewe, England. Each Batur features the most powerful version ever of Bentley’s iconic W12, a 750 PS, hand-assembled 6.0-litre twin-turbo engine that has been at the heart of Bentley’s historic success over the last two decades.
The W12 found in both the Convertible and Coupe is a beautiful swan song that features a revised intake system, upgraded turbochargers, new intercoolers, and extensive recalibration to achieve 750 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque. The development of this engine is the crowning achievement of 20 years of innovation that has been able to achieve 40% more power and 25% greater fuel efficiency. Bentley’s W12 will be missed, but it could not have gone out in better style.
