Bentley Releases Black Edition for Continental GT and Flying Spur Families

For the first time, the ‘Winged B’ badges and boot letters go black and feature a unique combination of the High-Performance Hybrid powertrain and the GT Speed’s Performance Active Chassis and Sport Exhaust.
The new Black Edition models are a unique offering from Bentley in that they offer much more than just a visual twist. The new Black Edition models combine the dark visual impact of the Blackline specification with the new 680 PS powertrain and performance chassis to create a dark, high powered specification. These will be coveted models as there will be a limit of 400 examples worldwide.
The exterior features include new gloss black ‘Winged B’ badges on the front and rear, Mandarin brake calipers, and Black Edition badging. The Black Edition models combine the recently announced new High-Performance Hybrid powertrain with the Bentley Performance Active Chasis, previously only available on the Speed models. As a reminder, the new High-Performance Hybrids combines a 4.0 V8 twin-turbo with an E-motor to deliver a combined 680 PS and 930 Nm that surpasses the performance of the previous-generation GT Speed.

Design Highlights
The highlight of the design in the Black Edition models is Bentley’s Blackline specification, which is meant to create a subtle yet sleek and stealth-like look. Design features include the gloss black matrix and bumper grill, Beluga black front splitter, gloss black brightware, and, for the very first time, gloss black ‘Winged B’ badges and Bentley letter. The 22’ ten-spoke allow wheels are finished in gloss black with a duo-tone black and bright machine finish.
The Black Edition Continental GT and GTC feature the Harmony single headlamp design and the welcome animation that was recently unveiled with the core and Azure models.

The interior design cues include the Black Edition namestyle embroidered on the front headrests of the Continental models and all four of the headrests in the Flying Spur. Additionally, there is Piano Black veneer trim, Black Edition tread plates, and contrast stitching that is custom-designed for the owner. Comfort seats, mood lighting, Bentley Rotating Display, sports peddles, and the Mood Lighting specification are all included in this special edition trim.

Powertrain & Chassis
All of the Black Edition models are powered by Bentley’s new High-Performance Hybrid, which combines a 520 PS 4.0I V8 engine with a 190 PS E-Mottor to create a combined peak output of 680 PS and 930 Nm of torque. For the Continental GT, the 0-100km/h sprint takes just 3.7; for the Continental GTC and Flying Spur, the sprint takes 3.9 seconds for both models. All 3 models have an astonishingly high 50 miles / 80km electric range. This means the average driver would hardly use petrol for most daily activities. The Sport Exhaust option is also included in the Black Edition, which gives the V8 a delicious snarl.
However, perhaps the real highlight of the Black Edition Package is the inclusion of the Bentley Performance Active Chassis technology that previously had only been available in the range-topping 782 PS Speed models. This unlocks new levels of performance and dynamic capabilities by giving the driver access to modes such as Comfort, Bentley, and Sport mode. In Sport mode, the Bentley Performance Chassis can exclusively send up to 100% of the power to the reach wheels, providing a completely different driving experience and agile driving dynamics. The driver also gains an improved driving feel with more direct steering by calibrating the reach wheel steering with firmer damping and anti-roll bar calibrations, providing the driver with an incredible connection to the motorcar.
All in all, this is an incredible special edition from Bentley, and we applaud that the tweaks are more than just cosmetic differences and that the addition of the Bentley Performance Chassis really makes these 400 models something unique.
